SIKH INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2009: CHILDREN'S
Saka Sirhind
Director: Narindra Singh; Producer: Bicky Singh
Saka Sirhind is an animation film depicting the early 18th century saga of the martyrdom of the two younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh. It captures the moving and gripping tale of the nine and seven-year old sahibzadas - Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh - who were captured and imprisoned by the Mughals. When given the choice of converting to Islam or being buried alive, they remained steadfast in their faith and willingly embraced the ensuing torture and ultimate death.
Their exemplary courage has been a model to successive generations of Sikh children, continuing the tradition of the first two great martyrs of the Faith, the Fifth Master Guru Arjun Dev and the Ninth Master Guru Teg Bahadur.
The film Saka Sirhind, geared to the level of children and teenagers, follows the trials and tribulations of the two Princes and how they found strength in their commitment to the Universal God and the right of all people to practice the faith of their choice.
